Session 1: Naming and shaming!

Aaro Lappalainen 18 Oct 2026

The kids wake to their last day as kids. Today they receive their weirdly secret true names, after completing the fabled trial of the village. The village elders put forth the quest: travel to the temple of the moon, climb to the bottom of the well and speak to the sigil.

Alrightey.

The kids were offered a shorter but more dangerous path, and after weighing the pros and cons for half a session, they depart through the safer woods-route. The woods are used by village hunters, and the dangers are largely known, whereas the hills have all kinds of spoopy predators and geological dangers like falling and such. Anyway, it's a light pg-7 backyard adventure for kids, not a battle royale, let's be chill about this.

A short while into their journey, a giant weasel seems to be following the party, and they hide in the bushes. The weasel was of no consequence, just passing by with its progeny on the nice route we cleared through the underbrush, but the giant boar behind it is a problem. Tanny uses his one true power of being annoying, and scares off the spooky boar with his bagpipes. We carry on.

After most of the day traversing the woods, we come upon the clearing before the temple, where a strange, almost alienlike, dude, to say the least, is faffing about. Not sure what he's doing, maybe whistling, singing in an unknown language, or just farting upside down, but we should check it out. The shyer kids have a fit about the whole thing and think we should avoid talking to strange strangers in the woods, but hotter heads prevail and we go have us a chat.

The odd fella speaks some of the local language, broken and all funny like. Introducing himself as Tersis, we think, he points us towards the temple. The kids have no idea what this creature was, but thanks dude.

The kids climb down to the well of the temple, and one by one face the sigil and receive their names. No biggie, just coming-of-age-changing-forever -sort of a day, and we start skipping off back towards the village.

Or what was.
