The Wise

The Wise are the founding members and organisers of Cork D&D, the people who started this
community and keep it running week to week. They aren't only dungeon masters: they're the folks you can seek out whenever you need a hand, have a question, or run into a problem, at the table or away from it.

If something's on your mind, a rules query, a scheduling clash, a worry about another member, or you're simply not sure where to begin, any of the Wise will be glad to help. We were all new
once, so never feel you're imposing.

New to Cork D&D? Look for one of the Wise at any game night, we'll usually come and say hello, or leave a note on an upcoming Game Night. We'd love to meet you.

Meet the Wise

Mike O'Regan

Founder & Community Lead

I started this club in 2017 and have tried to steer it through all the various highs and lows. As the club grew (and grew) we started The Wise to help with any inter-personal issues that may arise. For myself and the rest of The Wise the most important thing is that you can be your authentic self in the club, no matter who you are pretending to be in the game, the real you is the one doing the pretending. We endeavour to make the space we play in welcoming and safe for all. The main role of The Wise is therefore to handle any problems any member may encounter. If someone makes you uncomfortable, talk to one of us about it. If we don't know about it, we can't fix it and we do want to fix things. So if you have an issue, find a member of this group that you feel comfortable talking to, and talk.

Me? Well I've been playing D&D since 1982. Cork native and lived here most of my life. I'm in most Wednesdays and usually come around to annoy every table for a minute or two. So say hello and nab me if there is something bothering you.

Mike Higgins

Club Treasurer/Financial Management

Known simply as Mike the Other/Younger/Lesser.

Ever since our "little" adventuring guild re-formed after the long dark, lonely, years of plague, I have been proud to call my self a member of Cork D&D Club. Now as both Club Treasurer and a member of the WISE committee, I help keep the machinery of the guild running while doing my best to ensure the club remains a place where everyone can feel welcome. Most weeks you'll find me behind a DM screen, plotting questionable encounters and pretending that everything is going according to plan.

Rui Henriques

Secretary/Documentation

Hi. I'm Rui, a Portuguese lad in love with all sorts of RPGs. I've been with the club since May 2018. At the club, you'll probably find me running a game. Outside the club, running a marathon. And if not playing games, probably playing some sort of musical instrument. Reach out to me for anything, but expect to hear a funny voice if I'm in the middle of a game!

Chris O'Donoghue

Librarian Resource Management

Chris has been a member of the club since the golden days of four tables in the Long Valley. He is a native Corkonian and can be found attending both Tuesdays and Wednesdays most weeks.

Rita CS

Public Relations/Membership Coordinator

Having never player TTRPGs before, I moved to Cork 9 years ago and (almost) immediately started playing DnD at the club.
You can find me most Blue Wednesdays making sure DMs don't forget they are mortal if you ever need a chat or have any questions.

Ben Hall

Waterford Ambassador

Our Man Abroad / The Exile / The Other Guy with a Patch Vest

A long time member now exiled to Deepest Darkest Waterford, I run the weekly Waterford D&D Meetup and only show up occasionally in Cork.

If you've any issues that need an outsider's perspective, give me a bell.

Cian O'Mahony

New-Member Welcome

This is Cian. He’s from Cork and he’s been in the club a LONG time (since 2017). He plays and runs D&D on Wednesdays mostly - usually at the same table so he should be easy to find if you need something.

Eon Coleman

Cork Action League Ambassador

Hi, I'm Eon! I have been playing D&D for about 32 years now, so I'm something of a beginner. I joined the group when I moved to Cork 9 years ago and immediately found a home here. My primary function in the group is to be a liaison for Cork Action League, a weekly board game meet up that shares a good few members with us. Feel free to ask me any questions about that, or approach me with concerns that may affect both groups! If you are a newer DM who is looking for advice on how to run games, I am always happy to offer advice and perspective.

Hedi Salm

New-Member Welcome

Hi, my name is Hedi. I've been part the club for around 5 years. Got into D&D by happy coincidence, met my best friends here and been actively playing ever since.

Been branching out to other TTRPG's and also was encouraged to put on my "big girl pants" and DM. So, I've run one-shots and campaigns. Currently just a player.

I've always loved the club and how so many of us have become great friends outside the club too. I've always felt at home here, so if I can make someone else feel like this, it's great.

I'm mostly playing on Tuesdays, so if there is anything I can help you with or even just a "Hi", all you have to do is look for the loudest table and you'll find me there.

Gearóid Cotter

New-Member Welcome

Gearóid joined the club during its post-pandemic resurgence. He is a regular attendee, as a player on Red Weeks and as a DM on Blue Weeks - Gearóid can more often than not be found in the private room section of the Courtyard.

Ruth O'Regan

New-Member Welcome

My name is Ruth, and I was hooked on D&D at a young age. Nowadays I mostly play "indie"/story games. Catch me on a Wednesday night if you want to try a weird oneshot based on M*A*S*H or Watchmen or Alice In Wonderland!

I also design games, so beware that I might rope you into playtesting some sort of Frankenstein-ed creation one day! I run a few teen D&D groups, and I organised a summer camp this July – so feel free to ask me about the scene for under-18s here in Cork.

On a Wednesday, I'll probably be around early, annoying people into conversations & cajoling newbies into abandoning D&D for new pastures. So if you're looking for a oneshot, or you're a new arrival, feel free to find me!

Talia Lynn Herch

New-Member Welcome

Hi Everyone! My name is Talia (Tah-Leah) 💜 I was born and raised in the beautiful Rocky Mountains and moved here to gorgeous Ireland, 10 years ago and thanks to another member found myself in the club 3 years ago. I am shy, at the start, but I am always looking to give a helping hand and am super friendly. Please reach out if you need anything 😊
